Ep. 3 Recap – Back to School

Mistfall really earns its name at the beginning of this one, and it’s raining outside as our protagonists awake at The Squirrel’s Folly. It’s totally some natural foley work that mother nature gave us during our recording and we ran with it.

The morning is a weird one for everyone in The Squirrel’s Folly as Ellis just tells everyone that he eats mustard in oatmeal. Like, he just puts it out there that he does that. Ellis is a freak like that. It’s an east coast thing.

After breakfast, Emil takes the advice of his new partners and buys a dagger from the Iron Oak, run by a delightful old man named Brian Shallowsprig. Emil tucks the dagger away, just in case.

The group heads to the Academy of Mistfall, and they use their connections from the night before to get a meeting with Danielle Stravich, the premier professor of botany in Eistrune. The group sees a lot of promise in Dev, who works the front desk, and the audience sees what is probably the making of another big bad. Lü’mis schedules an appointment to meet with one Professor Ramovich, but it’s not for another month. Hopefully they live that long!

The meeting with Professor Stravich goes swimmingly! Emil warns the other two that he might do a bit of lying, but if he does, we never know. He tells her that he is looking for a flower called the indigo magnolia to sell to a client. She is hesitant to give away too much, because it has some potent healing qualities. She eventually lets us know that it only blooms in the winter months.

Danielle Stravich offers an exchange: Lü’mis, Ellis, and Emil will go retrieve the contents of a failed delivery mission in exchange for information on the indigo magnolia. This is the failed mission the party witnessed the aftermath of the night before between Zenna and Elizabeth. The group agrees! The package is a plant that Danielle is interested in studying. A plant for a plant.

The party will be headed east out of Mistfall through the woods. The plant that they are retrieving may have some sketch qualities about it, so the group will have to be on their guard. Oh, and there’s the little problem of Elizabeth, who runs with a group called the Court of Outlaws. Surely we won’t see any more of her.

The group hugs it out at the end with Elarin. There’s a real mama, papa, and baby bear situation with hugs, and we’ll let you decipher whose hug is good, whose is bad, and whose is non-existent. That’s it for now! Let’s see where the group’s first mission will take them – surely nothing will go wrong in the woods…
