Welcome our new best friend and yours – Gertrude the horse. She’s part of the family according to Ellis, although she’s more like a commodity to Emil and Lü. The trio leaves Mistfall, heading toward their first mission.
But trouble is quick to follow. The group notices they are being followed, like right away. They lose Lü as they go basically invisible because they are so gd stealthy. The three of them are unable to find the trail of whoever was following, but it’s very ominous all the same.
Emil demonstrates some impressive survival skills out in the wild as the group finds a nice hidden location to camp for the night, where Ellis demands respect for Gertrude. As they are getting ready to settle in for a night of rest, Lü’mis drops the truth bomb that he doesn’t need rest at all. As in, he never sleeps? Ellis accepts this and goes to catch some z’s, but Emil isn’t having it.
Combined with the memory of Lü’s sharp teeth and incredible feats of physical prowess, Emil puts two and two together. Lü’mis is a vampire. Not just that, but he is also a couple hundred years old!
As Emil tries to rest with that info in mind, Lü’mis notices something approaching. Is it the person that was following us? Emil doesn’t stick around to find out – he’s up out of bed and hiding in the cart for cover. As Ellis and Lü bravely step up to defend themselves from whatever is coming, Emil starts having a coughing fit.
Elizabeth and the Court of Outlaws approach in full flex, swinging in from the trees and everything. Elizabeth is here, not to kill our heroes, but to offer a deal: forget about the plant matter that Professor Stravich wants and tell her we couldn’t find it. In exchange, the three heroes both get to live and get a bunch of gold.
Emil tries to defuse the situation and implores the other two to turn down her offer. He needs this plant. He needs the information that Professor Danielle Stravich can offer him. Lü and Ellis go along with Emil, and Elizabeth mercifully allows them to live but warns them they are on her radar. The Court slinks away into the night, leaving Emil to answer for his words and actions (or lack thereof).
Anyway, Emil feels bad for his cowardice but promises that getting the indigo magnolia flower (which is NOT drugs, for sure) will be very beneficial for everyone if they can find it and get it back to Venzor.
The next day they are traveling along the road and see a PIXIE? These tricky little fey creatures are so cute, and they lure the group off the road to check out what seems like a community of them, with a garden or farm of some kind. And who else is working there but that motherfucker Gramps that tried to kill them mere days ago. That’s where we leave the group for now!
