As the group winds down from a tense and confusing past day, Emil and Lü’mis are feeling exhausted as Ellis feels strangely stronger and different than before. They make camp as Emil shows the group how he presses his suit with a hot dagger and he cleans Ellis’ boots up real nice! Lü’mis questions his choices as he watches this. Lü, for the first time, makes a place to rest, which he clarifies is just him meditating.
Ellis takes the first watch and reflects on his experience from the day before. He feels the dichotomy of hating being put in the situation of seeing his friends like that, but he feels different now. Feels stronger since it happened. After Ellis’ watch, he wakes Emil, whose point of exhaustion means that he doesn’t notice anything. Especially that people are moving steadily through the forest with torches. Eventually, he catches on, but the people are soon upon their camp.
But FIRST – Ellis is visited again by this crow being in a dream. He tells Ellis that his friends were spoken to by “big evil”, referring to the voice that came from the shrine the day before. The crow wants Ellis to know he is a barrel of fun and can for sure be trusted, as evidenced by Ellis’ new ability – Eldritch Blast. That’s right folks, we have a multiclasser on our hands!
Emil finally breaks through Ellis’ dream as they talk about the crow’s mischievous tendencies. Emil and Lü’mis hide while Ellis stands defiantly with his new powers flowing through him. The bandits, belonging to the Court of Outlaws, have come to bring these three to Elizabeth. A fight ensues.
It gets bloody in a hurry. Emil is taking bites of people again. Ellis is blasting fools with his new powers. Lü’mis is punching and stabbing the heck out of them. They get down to just one bandit and convince him to drop his weapons. In their interrogation of him, the group finds out that the Court of Outlaws knows nothing about the crow, or the plant, not really. There’s a benefactor that’s paying the Court to get the plant, but they don’t really know why. With no more useful info, the group has him drop everything and go back to his friends, hopefully, to tell them to leave them alone.
The three heroes pick up some green bandanas off the dead bodies, leaving the one remaining guy tied up to a tree. They load Gertrude back up with the wagon and take off once again, a couple of days away from Mistfall.
