Ep. 13 Recap – Dock Walk

For the first time in weeks, things are calm. Our boys have been through a lot, and Ellis is questioning whether he should split. We get a classic tavern keeper and patron conversation over the bar, and Elarin is just everyone’s favorite sweetheart inn-keeper as she gives Ellis a nice pep-talk.

The boys reconvene in a variety of states. Lü’mis has been deep in meditation and is feeling ~moody~ while Emil is invigorated given all the information he’s learned while working with these two. The group heads down to the docks to do some recon on this boat disappearing act. Lü briefly tells the others about how he creates circles of death while meditating instead of sucking peoples’ blood, but is pretty hush about it!

A city guard fills them in that the boat moved away from the docks in the water without any sails. It seemed to be moving down the river free of outside control. They look to some dock workers currently loading another boat for more answers, but Lü won’t get closer to the water for some reason. Turns out he refuses to approach open water, but that’s like last on the list of weird things to find out about Lü’mis.

The dock worker fills in Ellis and Emil. Seems like the boat that went missing had a lot of metal aboard. The crew of that ship is put out and bummed, but staying at The Squirrel’s Folly! How fortuitous!

On the walk back from the docks, Lü’mis lets them know that water is a hard boundary for him. Being in the water is legitimately painful for Lü’mis, although he can swim. So now we know that Lü’mis can’t really be in or around big bodies of water, so surely that won’t come back to haunt us, end of story, no problem at all.

They find the crew of the missing ship playing away their problems at the Squirrel’s Folly. They let them know that the ship was carrying mined ore for the Northeast Trading Company. The group decides to walk along the river until they see some signs of the ship in the morning.

Meanwhile, they end the night by circling up and assuring each other that they’re all on the same team. They put all their information revealed so far out on the table. Emil talks about suppressing his condition causing a cough and sickness. Ellis talks about his new powers after he had the bird fly through him. Lü’mis is really old and hasn’t seen anything like these two before.

The group decides they need to have a name. The brainstorming is on, like any classic adventuring party! The name “The Squirrel’s Foolies” comes up. There’s something there!
